The green credentials for The Loxford are unlike any previously seen in the Hunter Region. The site encompasses 800ha of environmental offset land, providing an abundance of nature around the future homesites.
The stunning wetlands have been retained, protected and will be embellished for all to enjoy. Picture walking and hiking trails, a safe and protected environment for wildlife across the 800ha parcel of land. This land and the subsequent wildlife corridors provide a provision for future generations of wildlife, required for a high level of biodiversity.
The area set for future residential housing is currently an expansive open area, requiring little to no clearing. With the development for there will be the addition of over 2000 mature street trees added, one for each homesite. Increasing the overall green credentials. To lead by example our sales team plan to drive green Electric Vehicles with car charge points at the sales office run through solar power. Future residents would be welcomed to use these facilities for their own green vehicles.
The area will be complemented by native landscaping to ensure a sustainable environment for future generations. To activate these areas for residents the community will be linked by shared pathways to encourage walking, bike riding and outdoor activity. The sculpture garden further enhances the outdoor space for the enjoyment of all. Where available existing site materials are repurposed for future use in parks and playgrounds or as retaining, to improve the lifecycle of materials across the site.
The former smelter site is great shape environmentally thanks to the care taken by the Hydro team. The small pockets in the buffer zone and material that required remediation has all been taken care of to the highest standard and enclosed in a containment cell, ensuring the protection of the land.
We are also in discussions with new transition industries who aim to achieve Net Zero emissions, to take up use of the Industrial and Business Park opportunities, this includes solar power providers.
